Mass Ave. is Poetry Street!

To celebrate National Poetry Month,  the Fox Branch Library has partnered with Arlington Public Art to present the Poetry Youth Initiative and display poems written by Arlington Teens on Mass Ave. windows of the library.

The Poetry Youth Initiative grew out of Arlington Public Art’s Youth Banner Initiative.  For the past three years,  areas teens have created art works that have then been displayed on banners along Mass. Ave.  Adding a poetry piece to the project gives teen writers a chance to share their work with the community.

Jurors Andrea Nicolay, Robbins Library Director, and Arlington Poet Laureate, Cathie Desjardin selected two works which were printed as large decals and affixed to Mass Ave facing windows at the library.

Walk on by and read the original work of area teens, then walk inside the Fox Branch Library to find something else to inspire!
