In winter I get up at night…

“Bed in Summer”

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle-light.
In summer, quite the other way,
I have to go to bed by day.

I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping on the tree,
Or hear the grown-up people’s feet
Still going past me in the street.

And does it not seem hard to you,
When all the sky is clear and blue,
And I should like so much to play,
To have to go to bed by day?

Robert Louis Stevenson

Flickr Creative Commons image of a clock with a sunset in the backgroundThe time change is coming; on Sunday, November 6, we “fall back” from 2am to 1am. Wireless devices will change automatically; remember to change any analog clocks you may have left!

To read more about the history of Daylight Saving Time (interesting) and why we still change our clocks twice a year (no reason, anymore, really), read “Fall back, spring forward…a chaos of clocks,” our blog post on the topic from this time two years ago.
