From the number of reading logs that have been picked up so far, it’s clear that many people are participating in the adult summer reading program already. If you haven’t picked up a reading log yet, it’s not too late – there’s still almost a month left! (Plus, you can include any book you’ve read since summer reading officially kicked off on June 20.)
Need a little extra motivation? Here are this year’s prizes for the adult summer reading program at the Arlington libraries:
- Bundles of coupons for free DVD rentals at the Robbins or Fox Branch Library. These coupons do not expire. DVD rentals are usually $1/week (two-for-$1 on Wednesdays).
- Gift certificates to Arlington’s own Book Rack, so you can buy those books you just have to own (or buy books as gifts for friends and family).
- Gift certificates to the Capitol Theater in Arlington, good for movie tickets and concessions, including Richardson’s Ice Cream Parlor (attached to the theater). Enjoy some ice cream with your movie!
- A gift certificate for dinner at one of three lovely local restaurants: Acitron in Arlington center, Flora in East Arlington, or Za in East Arlington.
The more books you read, the more raffle entries you earn, the more likely that one of these fabulous prizes will be yours come September! Remember to turn in your reading logs to the Reference Desk by September 4 in order to be included in the raffle. Happy reading!
