In just a few weeks, the Robbins Library Queer Book Group is reading and discussing queer icon Kate Bornstein’s memoir, A Queer and Pleasant Danger. I’d like to give you a summary of this book, but since I’m still reading it, and it honestly defies description, I’ll just tell you the slug on the front.
The true story of a nice Jewish boy who joins the Church of Scientology and leaves twelve years later to become the lovely lady she is today.
…and that pretty much says it all.
Who might be interested in this book or attending the discussion? Anybody who likes a good yarn. Anybody who is interested in the extreme self-determination it takes to become your authentic self. Anybody interested in trans stories, gender, and the queer community. Anybody who’d like to know the inside scoop on Scientology. Anybody who’s just learning about this, and who wanted to read the book, but couldn’t lay hands on a copy. You are welcomed to attend!
QBG is meeting to discuss A Queer and Pleasant Danger on Wednesday, October 30th. 7PM in the 4th Floor Conference Room. Email me (Rebecca) at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 781.316.3226 if you have any questions.
