Every three to five years, the library develops a new strategic plan which relies heavily on feedback from our community. We hope you’ll choose to be a part of this process by joining us at one of the community focus group meetings. We’d love to hear from you. Refreshments will be served.

  1. Molly F. says:

Why is there a specific focus group for “Long-Term Residents”? Obviously long-term residents have a deep historical understanding of Arlington, but do they have unique needs from the library? How long do you need to live in town to be considered a “long-term” resident? Multi-generations? I don’t want to be disrespectful, but so much emphasis on looking back keeps the town from looking forward.

    • Andrea says:

      Hi,
Thanks for your message and for your interest in the focus groups. “Long-term residents” are people who have lived in Arlington for a decade, give or take (we’re keeping it loose and subjective so as not to be exclusive) and have ideas about how the library might adapt to our changing town. Anyone who considers themselves a long-term resident by that definition is welcome to attend this focus group. We look forward to hearing from you!

  2. Cynthia Swain says:

I’d love to participate but am not available at the open group or long-term resident times. (What constitutes long-term resident? 10 years? more?) Will you be offering more groups, preferably in the evening (I can’t do Monday evenings)?

    • Andrea says:

Hi Cynthia, do you use the library as a workspace? Consider attending the focus group on Wed. 10/30 for Freelancers/Telecommuters/Job-seekers from 8pm-9pm in the Robbins Library Community Room. (Also, to answer your question, long-term resident is anyone who’s lived here for a decade, give or take. It’s a fairly loose definition.) Hope to see you!

  3. R Murthy says:

I’d love to join a later (post-bedtime) Parents Focus Group time if you need more participants. 7:30p?

    • Andrea says:

Hi R Murthy, I’m afraid we are not able to add a later Parents Focus Group, but if you use the library as a workspace, please consider attending the Freelancers/Telecommuters/Job-seekers Focus Group on 10/30 from 8pm-9pm in the Robbins Library Community Room.
