April is National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month!  Happy poem to you!

In honor of all things poetic (of which I’m told there are many ways to be), I figured we should do some highlighting, and linking for your viewing/listening/reading pleasure.

First up:  This kid won the NPR Snap Judgement Performance of the Year.  Enjoy!

Locally, we’ve got the The Boston Poetry Slam happening on Wednesday nights at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge.  The Lizard Lounge Poetry Jam happens at the (surprise!) Lizard Lounge (also in Cambridge) on Sunday nights.

Want to hit up some local poetry events?

Try this Boston.com calendar.

Or these trending Meetups.

The National Poetry Slam is coming to the Boston area in August of 2013, so get ready for that.

Some online resources:

Poetry Foundation

Looking for some grants to fund your poetry programs?  Check out the Arlington Cultural Council.

And finally, please check out our display at the Robbins Library (by the elevator table).  We’ve got a great selection of poetry available to suit every mood.
