February is Amnesty month at the library

February may be a short, dark month, but there’s a bright spot: it’s Fine Free Month here at the Arlington libraries. If you’ve been putting off your next library visit because of mounting fines, have no fear! During February Amnesty, you can return any overdue items and we will wipe out your late fees so you can start with a clean slate. We are able to wipe out all fines, whether the item in question belongs to Arlington or one of our fellow Minuteman libraries. Also, if you’ve lost your card, now is a great time to replace it – get a new one this month for free!amnesty_defn

Between February 1 and 28, hunt around for those overdue movies and books – check around the TV, in the back of the car, under the bed – bring ’em back, and we’ll forgive the fines, no questions asked. It’s a win-win situation: no fines for you, and more books, movies, CDs, etc. available for everyone else to check out.

The fine print: We cannot wipe out replacement costs for lost items. DVD rental fees and Museum Pass fees still apply. Fines for missing parts (e.g. a manual or booklet from a CD set) still apply.
