Last night was the Not-So-Young Adult monthly book group meeting, where adults meet to talk about Young Adult books. Our book for this month was The Half-Life of Planets, and we were incredibly lucky to have both authors attend!
It was a great opportunity to be able to talk to the authors and ask questions about the book and their writing in general. Both Emily Franklin and Brendan Halpin have written a number of books – individually and together – so they have a lot of experience writing and publishing. Some of the topics they discussed were their inspiration for the book, the logistics of writing with another person, and how they fit writing in their schedules (these are two very busy people!)
They are both awesome, super-friendly and funny! It was so great having them with us. They even brought copies of their new book, Tessa Masterson Will Go To Prom, which I can’t wait to read, and which has already been nominated for an award.
Thanks again, Brendan and Emily, for attending our book group! It was such a fun evening!
