Wouldn’t it be great if you could receive a text message letting you know that an item you ordered from another library has now arrived? Or, wouldn’t it be great to get a text just to let you know that you have an library item that is due in a few days? Or, not that you are ever guilty of this, wouldn’t it be terrific to get a text letting you know that a library item you currently have checked out is overdue? Well, guess what, now you can! On Monday, March 5, the Minuteman Library Network launched a new SMS Alerts service (SMS, if you aren’t familiar with the term, stands for “Short Message Service”. Most of us just refer to them as text messages these days). To learn all the details regarding the new service and how it works, click here to check out this FAQ. Have no desire for this service? Don’t worry, you have to opt-in by signing up, so we aren’t going to just start randomly sending you text messages, I promise! Also, unlike some of these smartphone features I previously discussed, you don’t need a fancy iPhone or Android phone to utilize this service. Once again, check out the FAQ to learn more!
